Description |
1947. As part of the general reworking of Roosevelt Highway to make the new US 101, the latter is being rerouted from a strict coastal path to a higher elevation, giving users a more stable roadway and a better ocean view. At that point (just east of Corral Canyon) it rejoins the old route of Roosevelt Highway. The new Highway 101 is the path taken by today's PCH. Bottom left: Corral Canyon road. Corral Canyon Road is the white trail off to the left in the bottm left portion of the photo. It was just east of this point that one of the Rindge beach houses was built on the shore line. It washed away in a March, 1938 storm. |
