Description |
Las Flores Canyon area, ca 1948. This shows a transitional stage of the Las Flores Inn, which has been expanded by owner Chris Polos and renamed the Sea Lion Inn, after a domesticated sea lion kept in a tank for customers to visit. Polos would later demolish the original Las Flores Inn building and build a greatly expanded Sea Lion Restaurant with a huge parking lot (see DM-75). Across from the Inn is Las Flores Canyon. The dormitory-like building just to the left of the Sea Lion is a small apartment complex Polos built for family members and selected employees. Just to the left of that building is the outlet of Las Flores Creek, followed by a Union 76 gas station. Across from the station is the relocated Olas Grandes Inn, now called the Malibu Plaza Building. The Albatross Inn, between the Las Flores Inn and the gas station, has not yet been built. |
