Description |
Francisco Ruiz, undated. Francisco owned a small, 160 acre "ranchito" just above what is today the Pepperdine University campus. After one of his sons died of TB, he sold his land to the Rindge family and moved to Rancho Malibu as a combination foreman/head vacquero, where he lived out his days. He was very popular with all the family members, and particularly with May Rindge, whom he taught to saddle and ride a horse. He also made a saddle for her, and various leather ropes (latigos) for her and other family members. Another of his sons, Rafael, also worked with him on the ranch (RMb-5, -7) |
