Description |
Rattlesnake Point, 1912. Close to the outlet of Corral Canyon. Rattlesnake Point was one of those portions of the Rancho Coastline very difficult to travers in any sort of wheeled vehicle. In about 1907-8, the Rindges carved a pathway for their railway across the Point. The railway is in good shape at this date, but as it began to degrade toward 1920, workers began to shape and reinforce a path very close to the rail bed, which eventually was incorporated into the County dirt road (1923). It is hard to see how the horses and wagon in this photo made it over such rough terrain, especially if the four (five?) men were all riding in the wagon! |
